The documents involved are usually a trade licence copy, a certificate of incorporation, a board or shareholder resolution, or a memorandum of association. This differs from attesting a personal document, because the signatory is acting for the company rather than for themselves, and we check who is authorised to sign before we attest anything. Where the document is a trade licence, articles or incorporation paperwork, the fee is fixed. A bank account review might need only the trade licence and the latest resolution. A free zone change might need the memorandum and the amendment that caused it. A memorandum or resolution amended since it was issued must be read together with its amendments, not attested alone. - The company name and licence number match across every document - Any amendment is attested alongside the original it changes - The person requesting the attestation can show they are authorised ## Who attends, and what we check An authorised signatory for the company Passport or Emirates ID of that signatory The current trade licence The document being attested, and any earlier amendments Proof of who may sign for the company ## Where a corporate attestation gets refused We cannot attest a company document where the person requesting it cannot show they are authorised to sign for the company. We cannot attest a memorandum or resolution where an earlier amendment is missing from the file, because the document on its own no longer reflects the company as it stands. A trade licence that has expired is attested as what it is, not as a current one. ## Common problems, and the fix 01 No proof of signing authority Fix: bring the resolution or power of attorney naming the signatory. 02 An earlier amendment is missing Fix: locate it before the attestation, the set must be complete. 03 The company name differs between documents Fix: match every document to the current trade licence exactly. 04 The trade licence has expired Fix: renew it first, or tell us and we attest it as it stands.
