It is used when the owner is travelling, has already left the UAE, or simply cannot attend the RTA counter at the time needed. The document has to identify the vehicle by its chassis number and plate number, since the RTA will not accept a power of attorney that refers only to “my vehicle”. [Send your details](https://dubainotaryservices.ae/contact/) ## What the document must contain 01 The vehicle, named exactly Chassis number and plate number, matching the Mulkiya. 02 The principal and the agent Both named as in their passports or Emirates ID. 03 What the agent may do Sell, transfer, register, renew or export, stated specifically. 04 Any price or condition the owner sets A minimum price or a named buyer, where the owner wants one recorded. 05 Signatures The principal’s signature, witnessed and notarised. ## Getting the scope right The RTA checks a vehicle power of attorney against the Mulkiya, not against the owner’s intention. A chassis number copied incorrectly, or a plate number left off, is the single most common reason a vehicle POA is sent back. We check the Mulkiya against the draft before you sign, and confirm whether the vehicle carries a loan that has to be cleared first. A power of attorney naming the vehicle correctly is still refused if a bank loan has not been discharged, because the bank’s claim comes first. - The chassis number and plate number match the Mulkiya - Any bank finance on the vehicle is cleared first - The act authorised, sale, transfer or export, is stated specifically ## Who signs, and what we check The principal, or their own attorney where permitted The agent, named by passport or Emirates ID The Mulkiya, chassis number and plate number The specific act authorised, sale, transfer, renewal or export Confirmation of any outstanding bank finance on the vehicle ## Where a vehicle power of attorney is refused A vehicle power of attorney is usually refused for a specific reason, not a general one. The chassis or plate number is missing or does not match the Mulkiya. The vehicle still carries a bank loan that has not been cleared. Or the document only says “my vehicle” with no identifying numbers at all. We check the Mulkiya and the finance position before you sign. ## Common problems, and the fix 01 The chassis or plate number is missing or wrong Fix: copy both from the Mulkiya, exactly. 02 The vehicle has an active bank loan Fix: clear the finance with the bank before the transfer proceeds. 03 The POA only describes “my vehicle” Fix: name the chassis number and plate number specifically. 04 The document is too old for the RTA Fix: check the age limit with the RTA, and renew if needed. Yes, once the vehicle power of attorney is notarised and names the chassis and plate number, your agent signs at the RTA on your behalf. #### Does the POA need the chassis number? Yes.
