What contract notarisation does
Notarising a contract means the parties sign in front of a notary public, who checks who they are and records that they signed. It gives the other side, a bank or an authority a reliable record of who signed and when. It does not judge whether the deal is a good one, so the terms still need to be right before the signing. We read the contract first: the party names, the signatories, the authority of anyone signing for a company, and whether an Arabic version is needed. Then our in-house notary public notarises it at our Business Bay office, online or at a home visit. For an agreement between businesses, such as a supply or distribution agreement, see commercial contract notarisation.
Contracts we notarise
Sale and purchase agreements
For goods, business assets or shares between two parties.
Service and supply contracts
Where a counterparty or bank asks for notarised signatures.
Partnership and joint venture agreements
Agreements between partners before or alongside a company set up.
Loan and settlement agreements
Private loans, repayments and settlements between parties.
What the contract must show
01
Full names of every party
Exactly as on the passport or trade licence.
02
Who signs for a company
The signatory’s name and the document that gives the authority.
03
The date and the place of signing
Filled in at the signing, not left blank.
04
Page numbers and initials
So no page can be swapped later.
Get the parties right first
Most contract problems at a notary are not about the terms. A name is spelled differently from the passport, a company signs through someone with no written authority, or a party named in the contract is not at the signing. We check these points before you book, so the signing goes ahead on the day.

What to bring
The contract, the original passport and Emirates ID of each signatory, and for a company, the trade licence and the resolution or POA that names who signs.
Notarised contract
Notarised contract
Signed in front of a notary public, who checks identity and records the signing.
Signed contract only
Signed contract only
Signed between the parties with no notary. Some banks and authorities will not accept it.

Language decides acceptance
Notarised documents in the UAE are in Arabic, with limited exceptions. Many contracts are prepared in Arabic and English side by side. If you only have English, a legal translator listed by the UAE Ministry of Justice can translate it.
- Check which language the receiving party needs
- Keep both versions word for word the same
Who signs, and what we check
Every party named in the contract
Original passport and Emirates ID
Trade licence for a company party
Resolution or POA for a company signatory
Names spelled as on the passport
Arabic version where needed
Every page numbered
Blank spaces filled in or struck out
Where a contract gets refused
A contract is refused at signing when a party is missing, a name does not match the ID, or the person signing for a company cannot show authority. It can also be refused by the receiving party later if the language is wrong. We check all four before the appointment.
Refusal reasons, and the fix
01
Name does not match the passport
Fix: correct the spelling in the contract before signing.
02
No proof of authority for a company
Fix: bring a board resolution or POA that names the signatory.
03
A party cannot attend
Fix: sign online, book a home visit, or give a specific POA.
04
Wrong language for the receiving party
Fix: add an Arabic version or a legal translation.
05
Blank spaces left in the text
Fix: complete or strike out every blank before signing.
What happens after notarisation.
01
Each party keeps a copy
The notarised contract is the record of who signed and when.
02
Register it where required
Some contracts must also be filed with an authority, such as a lease or a property sale.
03
Use it abroad
A contract for use outside the UAE may need attestation. The UAE does not issue apostilles.

Changing a notarised contract
Do not edit a notarised contract by hand. Write an addendum that names the original contract and the change, and have every party sign it the same way.

Contract checked first, then notarised
