What a declaration is
A declaration is a formal written statement that you sign in front of a notary public to confirm something is true, usually because a specific authority, a court, bank, school, immigration department or foreign institution, needs it in writing before it will act. Unlike a casual letter, a declaration carries the weight of a sworn statement: the notary confirms your identity and witnesses your signature, and you accept the consequence of declaring something false. Some declarations are general, covering whatever fact the authority asked for. Others are statutory, made under a specific legal or procedural requirement, which is a narrower and more exact category. We check which one you actually need before we draft the wording, because the wrong form of declaration is one of the most common reasons a document comes back unaccepted.
The declarations we notarise most
Statutory declaration
Made under a specific legal or procedural requirement, usually asked for by name.
Solvency declaration
Confirms financial solvency, for a company liquidation or a personal matter.
Residence declaration
Confirms where you live, for school, bank or visa use.
Name change declaration
Confirms a change of name across your documents.
What the declaration must contain
01
Your identity
Full name as on your passport or Emirates ID.
02
The fact being declared
Stated plainly, matching the wording the authority asked for.
03
A declaration of truth
That the statement is made knowingly and is true.
04
Date and place
Where and when you signed.
05
Your signature before the notary
Witnessed and recorded at the point of signing.
Getting the purpose right
Two declarations that look alike on the page can serve completely different purposes. A bank, a school and an immigration file each have their own expectations for what a declaration must say and how it must be worded. Before we notarise, we ask who the declaration is for and what they actually require, so we draft or check it against that specific purpose rather than a generic template. Tell us where the declaration is going and we tell you what it needs to contain.

What it costs
| Document | Fee | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| Declaration (Canada, statutory, self) | AED 600 | Passport or Emirates ID, a note of the purpose, originals and copies |
| Drafting a new declaration | We quote after reading the document | A note of what the declaration must state and who asked for it |
Fees may vary with the document; we confirm the figure before you sign.
What to bring
Passport or Emirates ID, a note of who the declaration is for and what they asked for, and any supporting document it refers to.
Declaration
Declaration
A formal statement made for a specific official purpose.
Affidavit
Affidavit
A general sworn statement of fact, for whatever an authority asks you to confirm.

It is checked against who asked for it
A declaration only does its job if it answers the receiving authority’s actual requirement. We ask who that is before we draft or finalise the wording.
- The right form for the right authority
- Wording that matches the request
- Both language texts checked together
Who signs, and what we check
The person making the declaration
A witness, where the authority asks for one
Passport or Emirates ID, original
The document or application the declaration supports
Any earlier declaration on the same matter
Authority to sign, for a corporate declaration
Where a declaration gets stuck
A declaration is usually refused for one of two reasons: it does not match the specific wording or form the receiving authority expects, or it was never actually required and a different document, an affidavit, an attestation or a resolution, was the right instrument. We confirm which document you need and what it must say before you sign, so you are not left redoing the paperwork once it reaches the authority.
Common problems, and the fix
01
The wrong kind of declaration was prepared
Fix: confirm with the authority which form they need first.
02
The wording does not match the request
Fix: draft to answer the request directly.
03
A supporting document is missing
Fix: attach the certificate, bill or statement it refers to.
04
The two languages differ
Fix: correct both texts together before signing.
After notarisation
01
Submit it to the authority
The notarised declaration goes to whoever asked for it.
02
Attach the supporting documents
Where the declaration refers to a certificate, bill or statement, submit both.
03
Keep a copy
Keep the notarised original and a copy for your own file.

When the requirement is more specific
Some authorities do not accept a general declaration. They ask for one made under a named legal or procedural rule.
