What a legal notice is
A legal notice is a formal written notice sent to another party before a dispute goes any further, a breach of a contract, a demand for payment or performance, or notice that you are ending an agreement. It sets out what happened, what you want the other party to do, and by when. Notarising it does not settle the dispute, it creates a dated, notarised record of exactly what was said and when it was signed, which matters if the matter is later taken further. We notarise the notice; sending or serving it, and anything that follows, is between you, the other party, and your lawyer where you have one.
Common reasons for a legal notice
Breach of contract
Telling the other party they have not met their obligations, and what you want instead.
A formal demand for payment
A clear, dated demand before escalating an unpaid amount.
Ending an agreement
Notice that a contract or arrangement is being terminated, and from when.
Notice before legal action
A final notice, giving the other party a chance to respond first.
What the notice must contain
01
Both parties, clearly identified
Full names, and the company details where either side is a business.
02
What happened
The facts, the breach or the issue, stated plainly.
03
What you are asking for
Payment, performance, or that something stops, stated clearly.
04
A timeframe to respond
A reasonable period by which you expect a reply or compliance.
05
The reference it relies on
The contract, agreement or correspondence the notice points back to.
Getting the scope right
We notarise general legal notices between companies or individuals, such as a breach, a demand or a termination. Some situations, a tenancy or an employment matter, are usually handled with their own specific notice and process. Tell us what the notice is for and we tell you whether a general legal notice fits, or point you to the right route.

| Document | Fee | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| Legal notice (notarised) | AED 2,000 | The facts, what you are asking for, a timeframe, ID or passport |
| Drafting the notice | We quote after reading the document | A note of what happened and the outcome you want |
Fees may vary with the document; we confirm the figure before you sign.
What to bring
Passport or Emirates ID for whoever signs, the other party’s full details, any contract or correspondence the notice relies on, and a clear statement of what you want to happen and by when.
Legal notice
Legal notice
A formal demand or notice to another party, that something happened and what you want done about it.
Undertaking letter
Undertaking letter
A formal promise to do or not do something, often required by a bank or authority. See undertaking letter.

What decides whether a notice holds up later
A notice is only as strong as what it says and how clearly it says it. Both parties correctly identified, the facts stated plainly, a clear demand, and a reasonable deadline all matter more than the wording being formal sounding. Notarising it adds a dated, notarised record that the notice existed and was signed in that form on that day.
- Identify both parties correctly
- State the facts and the demand clearly
- Give a reasonable deadline to respond
Who signs, and what we check
The person or company sending the notice
An authorised signatory, where the sender is a company
Passport or Emirates ID for whoever signs
The notice, read through before you sign
The contract or correspondence it refers to
Both language versions, where the notice is bilingual
Where a legal notice is refused
We do not notarise a notice that is vague about who it is against, makes no clear demand, sets no timeframe at all, or appears to state something we have reason to believe is false. We read the notice before you sign, not after.
Common problems, and the fix
01
The other party’s details are incomplete
Fix: confirm the full name and, for a company, its trade licence details.
02
The demand is vague
Fix: state exactly what you want done, and by when.
03
No timeframe is given
Fix: add a reasonable period for the other party to respond.
04
The two language versions differ
Fix: correct both texts together before signing.
After notarisation
01
The notice is sent to the other party
By the method you choose, or with advice on the usual routes.
02
You keep the notarised copy
As your dated record of exactly what was sent.
03
You wait for the stated period
Before taking any further step.
04
You keep it with your file
In case the matter is taken further later.

If the notice is about a contract
A legal notice often sits alongside the contract it refers to, or a related corporate agreement.

Questions about legal notices
Does a notarised legal notice settle the dispute?
No. It creates a dated, notarised record of what was said. What happens next is between you and the other party, or your lawyer.
Can you draft the notice for me?
Yes. Tell us what happened and what you want, and we quote after reading the details.
Does the notice need to be bilingual?
Often yes, where the other party may rely on the Arabic text. We check both versions against each other.
How is the notice sent to the other party?
That is a separate step from notarisation, we can advise on the usual routes for your situation.
What if the other party does not respond?
That is a question for your lawyer. We keep your notarised copy as your dated record.
Is a general legal notice right for an eviction or tenancy notice?
Not always, because a tenancy matter usually has its own notice and process. Tell us the situation and we confirm the right route.
