What document attestation covers
Document attestation is the broad name for confirming a document so an authority, bank or counterparty will accept it. Under that name sit several services, because the confirmation an authority wants is not always the same. Sometimes it is a certified true copy, confirming a copy matches an original. Sometimes it is a certification of a signature, a translation or content. Sometimes it is a verification that a document is genuine and current. For company documents, it is often a trade licence, a resolution or a memorandum confirmed for a bank or a free zone. For personal milestones, it covers a will or a marriage contract. Tell us what the request asks for in its own words, and we tell you which attestation applies.
The document attestation family
Certified true copy
Confirming a copy matches its original, for passports, certificates and statements.
Corporate document attestation
Trade licences, resolutions and company certificates, for banks and free zones.
Marriage contract attestation
Confirming a marriage contract for a government or embassy file.
What every attestation needs
01
The original document
Whatever is being attested, we start from the original.
02
What the request asks for
A copy, a signature, a translation, or the document itself.
03
Your identity
Passport or Emirates ID, for the person the document concerns.
04
Any earlier attestation
If a document has been attested before, bring that record too.
05
Where it is going
A UAE authority, a bank, a free zone, or an authority abroad.
Getting the scope right
The biggest delay in document attestation is attesting the wrong thing. A bank asking for a true copy does not need a certified translation. An authority asking for verification does not need a signature certified. We read the exact wording of the request before we attest anything, because the fee and the process both depend on which service actually applies.

| Corporate document attestation | From AED 500 |

What to bring
The original document, the written request if you have one, and your passport or Emirates ID.
Attestation
Document attestation
Confirms a document for an authority, bank or counterparty to accept.
Notarisation
Notarising a new document
Gives legal effect to a document you are signing now, such as a power of attorney or a contract.

What decides which attestation applies
The wording of the request usually tells you. “True copy” or “certified copy” means a copy check. “Certify” with a signature or translation means a certification. “Verify” or “confirm genuine” means a verification. A trade licence, resolution or memorandum for a bank is a corporate attestation.
- Read the exact word the authority used
- Match it to the service, not the document type alone
- Ask us if the wording is unclear
Who attends, and what we check
You, or an authorised signatory for a company document
Passport or Emirates ID
The original document
The written request, where you have one
Whether further attestation abroad is needed afterwards
Where an attestation gets refused
An attestation is refused when the original cannot be produced, when the document looks altered, or when the wrong service was attested, such as a true copy sent where a certified signature was asked for. We check the request wording before we attest, to avoid sending back the wrong confirmation.
Common problems, and the fix
01
The wrong service was requested
Fix: send us the authority’s exact wording, we match it to the right service.
02
The original cannot be found
Fix: ask the issuer for a certified reissue first.
03
The document needs further attestation abroad
Fix: tell us the destination country, we tell you what comes after our attestation.
04
A company document has no signing authority on file
Fix: bring the resolution or power of attorney that shows who may sign.
After attestation
01
Submit it
Send the attested document to the bank, authority or counterparty that asked for it.
02
Add further attestation if needed
Some uses abroad need an embassy or ministry step after ours.
03
Keep the original
Keep the original document safe once it is attested.
04
Ask for more copies later
Tell us if you need another attested copy down the line.
