What document verification is
Document verification answers a different question from certification. Document certification confirms a copy, a signature or a translation. Verification confirms that the document itself is genuine, has not been altered, and is still current, meaning it has not expired or been superseded by a later version. A bank may ask for a certificate to be verified before it accepts it for a loan file. An employer may ask for a qualification to be verified before a job offer is confirmed. We check the document against what a genuine version should look like, and against anything you can show us about when it was issued, and we confirm what we found. We quote after reading the document, because the check depends on what it is and where it needs to go.
Documents we verify
Certificates and qualifications
Confirming a certificate is genuine and has not expired.
Company and licence documents
Confirming a trade licence or company certificate is current.
Personal identity documents
Confirming a passport or Emirates ID copy is current.
What we check
01
The document itself
Its format, stamps and signatures against what a genuine version carries.
02
The date
Whether it has expired or been replaced by a later version.
03
The issuing authority
Whether the document matches what that authority actually issues.
04
Your identity
Passport or Emirates ID, where the document is personal to you.
05
What the request actually asks for
Verification is not the same as certification, we confirm which applies.
Getting the scope right
Verification does not create a new document, and it is not the same as a certified true copy or a certification. It is a check, with our confirmation of what we found. If the bank, employer or authority wants a copy certified against the original, or a signature certified, those are different services. Tell us what the letter from the authority actually says and we tell you which check it needs.

Confirms content, a signature or a translation.

What decides whether verification is accepted
An authority checks that our confirmation states plainly what was verified and on what date, and that it carries our notary’s stamp and signature. A verification that does not name the document and the date it covers is often sent back.
- The confirmation names the document and its date
- The stamp, signature and date of our check are present
- The original was produced, not only a copy
Who attends, and what we check
You, or whoever holds the original document
Passport or Emirates ID
The original document, not a copy
The issue date and any expiry
Whether the authority also wants a certified copy
Where a verification cannot proceed
We cannot verify a document we cannot compare against a genuine original, such as a scanned copy with no original to check. We cannot confirm a document is current if it carries no date or no issuing details. Where the authority wants verification direct from the issuer, such as a university or a government department, we tell you that route instead of certifying something we cannot check.
Common problems, and the fix
01
Only a scanned copy is available
Fix: bring the original, or ask the issuer for a fresh copy.
02
No date on the document
Fix: ask the issuer for a dated reissue before we check it.
03
The authority wants verification from the issuer directly
Fix: we tell you the right route, rather than certify what we cannot check.
04
The document looks altered
Fix: we tell you plainly, and point you to the issuer.
After verification
01
Submit our confirmation
Send it to the bank, employer or authority with the document.
02
Keep the original
Keep the original document safe once we have checked it.
03
Add certification if needed
Some requests also ask for a certified copy, tell us if yours does.
04
Keep our confirmation on file
Useful if the same document is checked again later.

If you need more than verification
Verification confirms a document is genuine and current. If you also need a copy certified, or a signature or translation confirmed, these are different services.

Send your document. We check it is genuine and current before you submit it.
Documents we notarise are presented to authorities, free zones and banks across the UAE.

Do I need the original?
Yes, we cannot verify a document from a scanned copy alone.
How long does verification take?
It depends on the document, contact us with the details and we tell you.
What do I receive once a document is verified?
