Document Certification in Dubai
Document certification is our in-house notary public confirming a document’s content, a signature on it, or that a translation matches the original, for a UAE or foreign authority. We certify it at our Business Bay office, online or at your home.

What document certification is
Document certification is wider than a true copy. A certified true copy only confirms that a copy matches an original. Certification confirms something about the document itself: that its content is accurate, that a signature on it is genuine, or that a translation reads the same as the source text. A bank may ask for a certified signature on a form. A university abroad may ask for a certified translation of a transcript. We read the document first, work out which kind of certification it needs, and certify it at our Business Bay office, online or at your home. Where the document is one of our listed personal documents, the fee is fixed. Otherwise we quote after reading it.
What we certify
Signature certification
Confirming a signature on a document was made by the person named.
Translation certification
Confirming a translation reads the same as the original text.
What we check before certifying
01
The original document
We read it in full before certifying anything about it.
02
What is being certified
Content, a signature, or a translation, each needs a different check.
03
The signatory, if a signature is certified
The person named must be present to sign or confirm it.
04
Both texts, if a translation is certified
The original and the translation, side by side.
05
Your identity
Passport or Emirates ID.
Getting the scope right
Certification is not one thing. Confirming a signature is not the same as confirming a translation, and neither is the same as a certified true copy, which only confirms a copy matches an original. Tell us exactly what the bank, employer or authority asked for, in their own words if you have it, and we tell you which certification applies and what it costs.
How your document is certified
01
Contact us
Send a WhatsApp message or book online, with a note of what the authority asked for.
02
Share your document
Send the document, and the translation or signature page if that applies.
03
We confirm the type
We read the request and confirm which certification it needs.
04
Sign and collect
Sign where required, and collect the certified document.
What it costs
| Document | Fee |
|---|---|
| Passport copy, utility bill, bank statement, driving licence, degrees, certificates, diplomas | AED 500 |
| Transcripts, mark sheets, salary slips or certificates, Aadhaar, PAN | AED 400 |
| Content, signature or translation certification not listed above | We quote after reading the document |
Fees may vary with the document; we confirm the figure before you sign.
What to bring
The original document, the translation if one is involved, and your passport or Emirates ID.
Certification
Document certification
Confirms content, a signature or a translation.
True copy
Certified true copy
Confirms a copy matches the original, nothing more.

What decides whether a certification is accepted
An authority checks that the certification states plainly what was confirmed, that the notary’s stamp and signature are on the document, and that the date matches. A certification that does not say what it confirms is often sent back.
- The certification names what was checked
- The stamp, signature and date are all present
- Any translation is attached to the original, not sent separately
Who attends, and what we check
The person signing, if a signature is certified
Both language texts, if a translation is certified
Passport or Emirates ID
The original document, read in full
Whether the document also needs attestation for use abroad
Where a certification gets refused
We cannot certify a signature made by someone who is not present, and we cannot certify a translation without the original to check it against. A translation not done by a certified translator is sometimes not accepted by the authority asking for it, even once we certify that it matches. Tell us where the document is going and we tell you what it needs first. If the document still needs translating, see document translation.
Common problems, and the fix
01
The signatory is not present
Fix: book a time when they can attend, in person or online.
02
No original to check a translation against
Fix: bring the original text, not only the translation.
03
The translation was not done by a certified translator
Fix: ask us before the translation is done, not after.
04
The request did not say what to certify
Fix: ask the authority, or send us their letter and we read it.
After certification
01
Submit it
Send the certified document to the bank, employer or authority.
02
Add attestation if needed
Some uses abroad need further attestation after certification.
03
Keep a copy
Keep a certified copy for your own file.
04
Ask again if it is sent back
Tell us what the authority said and we check what is missing.

If you only need a copy certified
Certification covers content, a signature or a translation. If all you need is confirmation that a copy matches the original, that is simpler.

Send your document. We confirm what it needs before we certify it.

Questions about document certification
What is the difference between certification and a true copy?
A true copy only confirms a copy matches the original. Certification confirms content, a signature or a translation.
Can you certify a translation?
Yes, once we have the original and the translation together, and the translation is from a certified translator.
Does the person who signed need to attend?
Yes, to certify a signature the signatory attends in person or online.
Can a company document be certified?
Yes, where the signatory is authorised to sign for the company.
Will certification be enough for a foreign authority?
Often yes. Some ask for further attestation afterwards, and we tell you if yours does.
How much does certification cost?
A listed personal document has a fixed fee. Other documents are quoted after we read them.
